What does a Project Manager do?

A Project Manager plays a crucial role in the conception, planning, execution, and successful completion of projects within an organization. I believe there is no one-size-fits-all answer to the question, as each action depends on various variables, especially concerning each country's market conditions, whether it is thriving or not!

However, retaining project managers has become increasingly challenging, as they often leave the organization to take on a more attractive role with a broader scope than just a Project Manager. What I'm about to say will certainly generate divergent opinions. The truth is that Project Manager responsibilities are increasingly absorbed as a second skill by other roles. Today, for example, one of the skills required for a Product Manager and even a Product Owner is project management skills. Companies that do not offer project managers the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities beyond project-related duties will lose their professionals to companies that already have this visionary mindset. Some essential competencies are crucial for the success of these professionals.

The engagement of project managers is crucial for the success of any organization that relies on effective project management. An engaged project manager is more motivated, productive, and efficient in their roles.

My advice: when a complex problem arises in a project, do not analyze it only from the project management perspective. You should also consider the product improvement perspective. Do not settle for a solution that only solves your side of the issue. If you strive to develop your complex problem-solving skills combined with your product vision, you can propel your career as a successful project manager, managing other fronts!
